Advocates Needed!

A FEW GOOD ADVOCATES NEEDED!


If you're interested in becoming an advocate, please consider the following opportunities:


Partner: Young Woman (19) – West Bend
Advocate: Advocate would be a young woman that enjoys life and likes to have a good time. This partner is looking for someone that would go shopping with her or go out to the movies. She enjoys crafts and art and would love to share that hobby with someone. An advocate could encourage partner to participate in recreational activities such as taking walks or hikes. Some of the activities that go on downtown West Bend might be ideal activities for this partnership.

Partner: Young man (14) – Sussex
Advocate: A man that would be willing to enable this young man with autism in Sussex gain some independence from his parents. Partner enjoys bike rides, model cars, and going out for ice cream. He loves to play the guitar and is able to play a song after hearing it. He also enjoys recording music on his computer and then editing it. His favorite bands are the old school rock bands. Advocate would be willing to set up time to spend with partner a couple of times a month to go out or stay in and jam.

Partner: Young woman (21) – West Bend
Advocate: A young woman that is rooted in West Bend and is planning to stay in West Bend. Advocate needs to be a patient person who is willing to meet with partner 3 – 4 times a month. Partner would enjoy someone to do fun things with, bowling, movies, shopping. Partner lives on her own and could use a friend that is able to be a friend but who can also give some guidance, as a good friend would. Partner wants to be treated like any other 21 year old.

Partner: Man (41) – West Bend
Advocate: A man that is kind, caring and patient. Advocate must be extremely trustworthy and willing to build a relationship to build up trust. Partner likes to be on the go, he enjoys walking, biking, participating in and watching sports. He enjoys helping people out, doing chores and pulling weeds. Partner enjoys rummaging, especially for books and music, looking especially for 80’s rock and newer alternative rock. He would love to go to some of the downtown festivals with someone. An advocate would need to be able to do something with partner at least once a week.

Partner: Young Man (20) – Kewaskum
Advocate: A young man that would be a friend and mentor to this young man. Advocate must be a man of faith and be willing to share his faith with this young man. An ideal advocate would be someone that is active in a faith community and would be able to include this young man in some of those activities. Partner is easily influenced by peer pressure and needs an advocate that can help keep him on the right track. Partner enjoys art, movies, fishing, biking and video games. He is currently living at home with his parents but would like to be more independent. Advocate would be willing to get together with partner 3 – 4 times a month.

Partner: Young Man (14) – Kewaskum
Advocate: Advocate would be a man that is willing to be a good male role model as well as do all the fun stuff that a dad or big brother would do. An advocate would enjoy a mixture of indoor and outdoor activities, possibly trips to the zoo, museums, farm or fairs. Advocate must be patient and be willing to give this teen the time he needs to answer questions or speak what is on his mind. An advocate would help him become an involved in community activities.

Partner: Woman (50’s) – Germantown
Advocate: This woman is looking for another woman that would be a friend. She would like to have a friend that she can do things in the community with. She enjoys going out to eat, doing crossword puzzles and doing embroidery. She would be interested in taking some classes to learn new things. An advocate would include partner in activities in the community and would help partner discover new interests. Advocate needs to be willing to include partner in activities at least once a month.

Partner: Man (25) – West Bend
Advocate: A man that is active in the community and willing to include this partner in some of those activities. Partner would love to volunteer in the community but needs an advocate to be with him. He would also enjoy bowling, hiking, video games and puzzles. Partner does not have the means to go far so would love the opportunity to do any sort of activity out of his apartment. Advocate will need to be patient and will need to be able to set boundaries.

Partner: Young Boy (10) – Barton
Advocate: Someone that is willing to become a part of the life of this young boy. Advocate must be patient, understanding, flexible and willing to commit to this boy. Advocate must have a good sense of humor and be willing to take their time gaining this young boys, and his families, trust. This boy enjoys basketball, fishing, football, biking and animals. An ideal advocate would be able to provide this young boy some opportunities to gain positive peer interactions as well as community activities.
