A FEW GOOD ADVOCATES NEEDED!
If you're interested in becoming an advocate, please consider the following opportunities:
Partner: Man 38-West Bend Advocate: This advocate would be a man between 30-40 who enjoys golfing, biking, bowling and working with the computer, maybe has a family. This advocate has to be someone who can offer this partner someplace where he feels he belongs. This advocate can introduce his partner to fun events in the community, and maybe encourage him to take on a volunteer role. This person might encourage this partner to seek out opportunities independently as well. The advocate would be able to offer advise on the opposite sex and either have a strong relationship with someone of the opposite sex or is looking for a relationship.
Partner: Boy 8th grade-Jackson Advocate: This advocate would be a man of any age who will be a role model and support system. The advocate must relay to his partner that he accepts him fully and will not reject him. The advocate must be comfortable with opening up his home as a safe place for this boy. The advocate should be willing to open up educational and vocational opportunities for him.
Partner: Boy 6-Barton Advocate: This advocate would be either a man or a woman with a strong backbone who would actively represent this partner at school and in the community to see that his needs are being met. This advocate would have to show acceptance and love to this little boy and be a guide to both him and his mother. This advocate must be willing to make a long-term commitment to this little boy.
Partner: Boy 15-Richfield Advocate: This advocate would be a young man in his 20’s who is rooted in his community and planning to stick around for a while. The advocate would be willing to make a long-term commitment to this teenager. This partner enjoys outdoor activities, running and working hard. He also love to read and play video games. The ideal advocate would be accepting and willing to be a mentor as well as a connector to the community. The advocate would be willing to just “hang-out” and share all of the GOOD things in and about life with this boy.
Partner: Man 46-Slinger Advocate: This advocate would be a man at least 45 years old who is patient and steadfast. He would have to be someone who takes care of friends as if they were family. He would have to be a fighter willing to fight against the stereotypes and discrimination against his partner. He would have to be comfortable being a voice for someone whose voice is often not respected. This advocate might have to be willing to take on formal legal roles if the need arose. This person could invite his partner into socially valued roles such as a member of a service club or church. The commitment would be long-term.
